Help & FAQ

Everything you need to know about Civly.

Can't find your answer? Email hello@civly.com — a person reads it.

What is Civly?+
One place for the co-parenting week. You type the message the way you feel it; Civly writes a calm version; you approve and send. Plus a shared custody calendar, expense tracking, and a dated record of all of it.
How much does it cost?+
$79 per year or $7.99/month. No hidden fees. 30-day money-back guarantee — email hello@civly.com for a full refund.
Can I export our messages and calendar?+
Yes. Civly keeps a dated, timestamped record of messages, the calendar, and expenses. Export it as a PDF in a few clicks and share it with your attorney.
How does the AI rewrite work?+
When you type a message, Civly's AI analyzes it for conflict triggers (insults, threats, blame, ALL CAPS, etc.) and rewrites it using the BIFF method — Brief, Informative, Friendly, Firm. You see both versions side-by-side and choose which to send. Your original draft is never sent and is not shown to your co-parent.
Can my co-parent see my private vents?+
Not through Civly. Your raw words are never sent, are never shown to your co-parent, and are not included in any export you generate. What we won't promise is that they're beyond a court's reach — any company holding data can be compelled to produce it under valid legal process, Civly included. Any app that tells you otherwise is overselling.
How do I set up my custody schedule?+
Go to Calendar and click 'Set up your custody schedule.' You can paint your two-week pattern day by day, use a preset (week on/off, 2-2-3, 5-2-2-5, etc.), or upload your permanent orders and let AI extract the schedule.
Can I connect my kids' sports calendars?+
Yes. Civly syncs with TeamSnap, BAND, PlayMetrics, MOJO, Google Calendar, and Apple Calendar via iCal. Just paste the subscription link and events auto-populate on your calendar.
Can my attorney see my records?+
You can export a complete, timestamped PDF of your messages, calendar and expenses at any time and send it straight to your attorney.
Can grandparents or nannies see the calendar?+
Yes. You can share a read-only calendar link with anyone. They see custody days, holidays, and kids' activities — nothing else. No login required.
How do expenses work?+
Upload a receipt photo, forward an email to your unique Civly address, or enter manually. AI extracts the details. Set the split (50/50, 60/40, etc.). Your co-parent approves, disputes, or pays. Everything is documented.
What if my co-parent won't sign up?+
Your custody calendar, documents, journal and dated record are yours from day one. Messaging — including the rewrite on real messages — and expense-splitting switch on when your co-parent accepts your invite, because Civly messages are timestamped deliveries between two accounts. When they are ready, send the invite link and those switch on.
Is this legal advice?+
No. Civly is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Civly provides general family law information for educational purposes only. Always consult a licensed attorney for advice specific to your situation.
How do I cancel?+
Email hello@civly.com and it's done — no retention call, no form. Within 30 days of signup you get a full refund. After that, monthly stops at the end of the month and annual runs through the year you paid.
Can I switch from another co-parenting app?+
If a court order names a specific platform, keep using that platform until the order changes — that's your attorney's call, not ours. If no order names an app, you can start on Civly tonight and export your history from the old one. Email hello@civly.com and we'll tell you honestly what we can and can't import from your current app.
